How do you get old PC games to work on Windows XP?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: games for pc

I have alot of old pc games(Harry Potter Series, Backyard sports series etc.) that I want to play on my computer, which I Have Windows XP for but nothing will even pop up on the screen. Its like the disc isnt even in there. Some games will work ( Like The Tycoon Series) so I Have no idea whats up. PLEASE HELP!

Right click on the Executable (or shortcut to the executable) and click Properties. Move to the Compatibility tab and check the box that says "Run this program in compatibility mode for:", Then select the version of Windows the program was made for (usually 95 or 98 is a good decision).

    Hello SirBigglesWorth :
First of all, I’ve had the same problem myself with both of my PC’s. (a Compaq-Presario XP and an HP Pavillion Vista)
The Vista needed a new video card (stronger- Nvidia 9500). The Compaq needed a new optical drive- that’s the tray that slides open for your CDs and DVDs.
Since your CD games are not recognized, you should buy a new optical drive ($150.00- approx.).
When your CD games are recognized and are opened on your screen, then, open your Help & Support. Type in "Program Compatibility Wizard" and follow the on-screen instructions.
That’s the best I can do for you, now.
    Good Luck !, SirBigglesWorth !
