The first footage of Doctor Who: The adventure games has been released.

It shows the Doctor and Amy confronted by one of the new look Daleks in a nightmarish vision of London… in 1963! The short trailer also announces that the first of the four free games – downloadable from this site – will be made available from June 5, 2010.

The first in-depth preview of “City of the Daleks”, the first or four interactive episodes known collectively as Dr Who: The adventure games. This preview is based on a pre-Alpha build. In the UK, “City of the Daleks” will be available for free download from the BBC website from June 2nd. This is a clip from episode 104 of Playr. One of the best EVER retro adventure games. I love everything about The Dig.

I didn’t skip-to-destination in the game (double clicking to instantly get to a place) as I felt it would ruin the “movie experience”.

This was a graphical adventure game done by LucasArts in 1995. It was the 11th game using the SCUMM engine. The story started with a giant asteroid that could cause catastrophic damage upon impact on Earth. So, a team of five was tasked to plant nuclear explosives on it. Three of them left the shuttle to do that, but after some exploration they were brought to a distant planet of unknown position.

The Dig had the longest development length of all LucasArts adventure games. They worked on it since 1989 but the game wasn’t released until 1995.

The Dig was first meant to be a movie (so I’ve heard), but would have been too expensive, so they made it into a game instead.

Story and stuff by Steven Spielberg….
